My work is driven by my search for authenticity in creativity. I love photographs that radiate warmth and genuine emotion.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hi, it’s wonderful you’re here.

My name is Taja and I’m an Edinburgh-based photographer.

My work sits somewhere between documentary and editorial; I look for that elusive balance between catching unique, candid moments and harnessing the power and impact of thoughfully composed shots. In either case, I will create art, but never at the expense of honesty.

if you’re a little camera shy, that’s completely normal. A lot of my couples are. My job is to make you feel steady and comfortable, so that you can forget about the camera and simply be present with the people you love. My work is LGBTQ+ friendly, neurodivergent friendly and disability friendly.

Every couple is welcome here.

I’m originally from Slovenia, a small country where you can drive from Alpine peaks to the Adriatic coast in a single afternoon. I grew up between the wintry mountains and the summer sea. Invite me for a hike or an adventure and I’ll always say yes.

More than a decade ago, Edinburgh drew me in while I was here for university. I ended up staying. I love cities with history and art in their bones and Edinburgh’s artistic flair and architecture really captivated me.

I live here with my partner Henry and when I’m not photographing, we’re exploring a balance of Slovenian and British cooking, playing board games with friends, or deep into whatever book, series or game that has captured our attention.

I’m a big reader, especially when it comes to fantasy and long, immersive fiction stories. I find so much inspiration in beautiful narratives and I try and bring that into my photographic work.

I also have a soft spot for well made things: old buildings, quality materials, objects that are built to last. I’m the kind of person who gets an idea and then insists on learning whatever skill is needed to make it happen; whether that’s drilling shells, binding my own notebooks, or figuring out how to build something from scratch.

Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.
